Meditative Words

Some words to focus on when practicing mindfulness and developing skills to de-stress. I am going to make a word jar (with these words in it) to pull out some meditation when I need some ZEN. 🙂

Welcome 2020!

Wow, 2020! Here we are. As you approach we want to greet you with welcome arms. The past few years have been leading us to you, 2020. We are open, and willing to try our absolute best to embrace you. Whatever you may hold we know it is for our best purpose and highest power.

2020 is our year to engage our own selves and our abilities to take it to the next level. We are full of truth and wisdom and know the difference between what we are able to achieve and what no longer serves our purpose.

When you call on us to change, or to adjust we will do so with strength and good will. We will not fail you or not show up to meet you. Our future and our goals all depend on our willingness to flow and move in sync with you.

Holding onto anything that has not served us in the past is leaving with 2019. We have a new outlook and expression towards life. The energy that we possess now is full, strong, and able.

We look to 2020 as a spring board into our destiny. We are shifting ways and making room for the future. Let’s shine this 2020 and bring ourselves and destinies to the next realm waiting for us!

The Power of Sobriety

Looking at life through a filtered lense is sometimes the easiest way to navigate.

What if I told you there is a filter you are missing that not only minimizes hard lights and blemishes but completely restores and heals all it touches?

This is the power of sobriety.

When we face hard times in life, finding our guiding light is very difficult. Seeking solace through drugs, alcohol and bad relationships and environments can become second nature.

Putting up a wall of intoxication and poisons is a learned mechanism we have created to block out negative feelings and hold on to any happiness we do have.

In doing this we not only create worse feelings, we destroy the happiness we tried to hold on to.

Picture the glass of alcohol or wine or the line of drugs as the last stitch of happiness that you have. That happiness can be a 2 min high a 2 hour buzz or it can be the light that turns you away from the negative wall you have placed in front of you.

That light can guide you into a place where the beauty isn’t found through material things like drugs and alchohol but instead you will find your new highs and laughter through following your light into unknown territory.

This unknown territory is all the places you are afraid to visit.

These territories are full of hurdles. Boundaries, frustrastions. The exact feelings you are running from, and avoiding. These are the places you (believe it or not) miss.

These places are crying out to you, saying PLEASE! Heal me. I need your help.

Our innocence lies in waiting asking for our pain, hoping it gets the chance to teach us all it has learned.

Simple stress and little battles feel like mountains when you are consstantly looking for an escape. Traffic feels like a nightmare, commercials on the radio sound like hell, and all you can do is plan your next drink or pill.

Imagine a world where traffic makes you laugh, the commercials are interesting and you find happiness in every aspect of your life.

That is found through the miracle lens of recovery. Because it is not a lens, it is healing.

If we picture the child we were when we first started using and see that child lifting their hand up to us trying to pull themselves out of where they were left, that child is still inside you needing your help.

They know how hard it is for you, because they are right there with you.

They want to fight the hard times with you and have figured out bigger and better ways to deal with the problems of life.

You are here to teach each other the new way of life, for you both.

This will take work, tears and pain.

The other side of it will quickly catch up to you. Faster then you know, but there will still be days you want to escape.

Just remember the best escape is on the other side of the negative feeling, it is not by chasing that feeling into another bad night, another sick morning.

It is by going THROUGH that pain. Finding yourself on the other side of that pain is the highest feeling you will get. The longer you go the higher you will get.

The stronger you will be.

Sobriety is waiting for YOU!

How to Stay Sober

Astral.BarHow to Stay SoberSober Living September 24, 2019

Staying sober is the best path you can choose in life. Mental clarity and health become abundant when we forfeit dark pleasures for abundance of true happiness. The simple act of staying sober is not always so simple.

Below is a list of activities to do when you get the urge to drink or use:

  • Go for a Walk
  • Listen to Music
  • Exercise
  • Clean Your Space
  • Make a Goal List
  • Call Friends or Family
  • Find New Hobbies
  • Cook a Wholesome Meal
  • Journal
  • Paint, Draw or Create
  • Hike
  • Watch an Interesting Film or Show

When we have urges to use they can sometimes feel like the only thing that matters. Getting the next fix is the only way we have figured out how to deal with our issues. We can be functioning or at rock bottom and still have the deepest need to look else where for happiness rather than in a dark place.

Other Activities:

  • Scrapbook
  • Re-Vamp Space
  • Create Chore Chart
  • Create Budget Plan
  • Crafts
  • Read a Book
  • Work Towards BIG Goals
  • Take a Bath
  • Buy Yourself Something Nice
  • Write a Letter to Someone You Care About
  • Meditation

Try these the next time you want to use and see how these simple activities can impact your life in a positive way, creating better brain function, healthier thoughts, and instant joy.

Sometimes staying sober can take more than simple fixes, seeing a Chemical Dependency Professional and/or joining an AA or NA program can do wonders, while also introducing you to new people.

Working through harder aspects of your life will free you from so many tortures.. you may wonder why you ever used in the first place.

This is a great wonder to obtain in your possession.
